Tampa Pickleball Crew

Updated: Mar 28

Ybor, FL.

Tampa Pickleball Crew is a project that will forever hold a special place in the heart of Courtworks. This unique facility, located in a historic 65,000-square-foot industrial warehouse in Ybor City, represents the perfect fusion of passion, innovation, and community. What began as a bold vision from four extraordinary women—Kayla, Susan, Dené, and Jen—transformed into one of the most unique pickleball venues in the world.

A Bold Vision

The story of Tampa Pickleball Crew started with an audacious idea: take a century-old, long-abandoned warehouse and convince the city of Tampa to allow its conversion into a premier pickleball destination. Their determination and love for the sport were the driving forces behind what has become a truly one-of-a-kind facility.

Partnering with Addict Courts

Ahead of their launch, the owners reached out to Addict due to our deep ties with the Tampa Bay pickleball community. Upon our first visit, we saw their raw potential but also identified areas for improvement:

Equipment Upgrade:

They were using low-quality net systems from a sporting goods store.

Court Division:

There was no separation between courts, creating a chaotic playing environment.

Underutilized Space:

A worn-down 650-square-foot area lacked activation plans.

Our collaboration led to a transformative partnership.

Addict Courts stepped in to:

  1. Revitalize the 650-Square-Foot Space:

    1. We fully renovated the area to include a retail store, office, and podcast room, establishing the first Addict HQ.

  2. Upgrade Facility Equipment:

    1. We developed and supplied top-tier facility equipment, including:

      1. 8 Premium Portable Net Systems: The Thunderdome System, delivering superior stability and playability.

      2. Nearly 100 Court Barriers: Ensuring proper separation between courts for a professional playing experience.

  3. Support Facility Expansion:

    1. Just months into operation, the facility’s original 8 courts were fully booked, and demand for additional courts soared. This marked the birth of Courtworks.

    2. For their next 4 courts, we:

      1. Created detailed CAD Drawings for planning and execution.

      2. Laid down brand-new concrete slabs for a flawless foundation.

      3. Surfaced and painted the courts to premium standards.

      4. Installed 4 additional Thunderdome net systems and court barriers.

      5. Added fencing around the new courts to ensure safety and quality.

A Growing Community

This expansion brought the total number of courts to 12, solidifying Tampa Pickleball Crew as a hub for pickleball enthusiasts. The additional courts allowed the facility to:

  • Accommodate a growing membership base.

  • Host larger tournaments and events, including corporate gatherings.

  • Provide players with an elevated and professional environment.

A Special Legacy

Tampa Pickleball Crew isn’t just where we expanded a facility; it’s where Courtworks was born. This project symbolizes everything we stand for—community, innovation, and a passion for growing the game of pickleball. It’s more than just a facility; it’s a cornerstone of the Tampa pickleball community and a shining example of what’s possible when dreams meet determination.

We’re honored to have been part of this journey and to have played a role in creating a space that inspires connection, competition, and love for the game. Tampa Pickleball Crew will always be a landmark in our story, and we’re proud to call it home to one of the most unique pickleball facilities in the world.
