Dunedin, FL.
Eagle Scout Park stands as a testament to what can be achieved when a community’s passion meets expert craftsmanship. Partnering with the City of Dunedin, Courtworks took on the challenge of transforming a set of severely outdated tennis courts into a premier pickleball facility that would meet the needs of an ever-growing community of players.
Project Highlights
Scope of Work:
The project involved an ambitious overhaul, including an extension of the existing concrete slab to span over 22,000 square feet. This substantial upgrade provided the foundation for a state-of-the-art pickleball complex designed to serve players of all levels.
Premium Surfacing:
The courts were outfitted with a premium cushioned surface, setting a new standard for comfort and playability. This advanced cushioning system not only delivers a superior playing experience but also offers significant joint relief, making it accessible and enjoyable for players of all ages.
Enhanced Amenities:
The revitalization of Eagle Scout Park extended far beyond the courts themselves. Key improvements included:
Lighting:
High-quality, strategically placed lighting to support evening play.
Seating Areas:
Covered seating spaces providing players and spectators with shaded areas to relax.
Fencing:
Durable and aesthetically pleasing fencing to secure and enhance the courts.
Landscaping:
Thoughtful landscaping to beautify the surroundings and create a welcoming environment.
Community Impact
Eagle Scout Park’s transformation was driven by the dedicated involvement of the local pickleball community. With a group chat of over 500 passionate members, this project was truly a collaborative effort. The City of Dunedin listened to player feedback, ensuring the final design met the community’s expectations and created a space that players could proudly call their own.
The grand opening was a celebration to remember. Over 300 attendees, including the mayor and representatives from Dunedin’s Parks and Recreation department, gathered to commemorate the park’s rebirth. A ceremonial ribbon-cutting and a symbolic “first serve” by the project’s principals marked the occasion before eager players took to the courts for the first time.
A True Revival
The Eagle Scout Park project exemplifies Courtworks’ commitment to delivering high-quality, community-focused solutions. By blending technical expertise with a deep understanding of what players need, we helped transform a neglected space into a vibrant hub for pickleball enthusiasts.
This is more than just a park—it’s a cornerstone of the Dunedin community, fostering connection, healthy living, and a shared passion for the game.
